Iulia Hlihor
Iulia Hlihor (b. 2000, Suceava, Romania) is a painter who graduated from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca. Her practice searches for an understanding of the self through irrational and subjective experience, giving inner processes a visible form through images projected onto the outside world. She is drawn to dissociation and the urge to retreat from reality into a timeless refuge, painting a self that is partly detached from its own body. Her work moves between the known and the unknown, the near and the distant, the tangible and the intangible. The result is a symbolic, imagined world that offers shelter from a reality that feels too demanding to face directly.
